Science East

Science East is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and informing through hands-on science learning. Described by many as “The Best Little Science Centre in Canada,” Science East has been operating its many programs from downtown Fredericton, in the former York County Jail, since 1999.

Downstairs at the centre is the dungeon museum. This space is reserved to provide a record of the building as it was and the lives of people who were here. The next two floors at Science East are home to over 100 hands-on science exhibits that truly bring its motto to life. Play…Discover…Learn. And with something for all ages, there is no better way to get your hands on science!

Science East welcomes thousands of school-age children to the centre each year for curriculum-based demonstrations and reaches thousands more through its continuous outreach programming. Science East is a valuable resource for educators also, offering professional development workshops throughout the year. In the Summer months, and during March break as well, Science East offers a variety of hands-on science camps that allow young scientists to explore deeper the many mysteries of science.
